Vein of Galen aneurysm

**Definition:** Vein of Galen aneurysmal malformation (VGAM) is a congenital vascular malformation characterised by dilation of the embryonic precursor of the vein of Galen. It is a sporadic lesion that occurs during embryogenesis. Cardiac insufficiency of variable severity is the principle manifestation that leads to detection of the malformation in newborns.
