The 4606 code covers research on software that enables and manages distributed computing environments such as cloud, grid, peer-to-peer and edge systems. It includes the design, development, testing and evaluation of middleware, resource-allocation algorithms, scalability, reliability and security mechanisms that allow multiple computers to work together as a cohesive system.
