BICS Sectors

The Bloomberg Industry Classification System (BICS) organizes companies into a hierarchy of sectors, industry groups and sub-industries based on their primary business activities. The BICS Sectors level is the top tier, grouping firms into broad categories such as Energy, Financials, Healthcare and Technology to enable consistent market analysis and benchmarking. It is used by investors and data providers for portfolio construction and performance attribution.
