Subpart B - Table of Hazardous Materials and Special Provisions

Subpart B of Title 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations presents the master table of hazardous materials, listing each substance's UN or NA identification number, proper shipping name, hazard class, packing group and any applicable special provisions that modify packaging, labeling or transportation requirements for particular commodities. This tabular reference is the primary tool used by shippers, carriers and regulators to determine how hazardous materials must be classified, packaged and handled under U.S. transport law.
