Section 390.21 - Marking of self-propelled CMVs and intermodal equipment

Section 390.21 of Title 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations sets the marking requirements for self-propelled commercial motor vehicles and intermodal equipment. It mandates that each vehicle display its U.S. Department of Transportation number and any other required identification in a durable, legible form, positioned and sized so it can be readily seen by law-enforcement and safety officials.
