Afforestation, reforestation and restoration of forests

The entry covers activities that establish new forest cover, replant trees on land that was previously forested, and restore degraded forest ecosystems to boost carbon sequestration, biodiversity and other ecosystem services. It is placed under Objective 1 for climate-change mitigation in the agriculture sector and meets the taxonomy only when it satisfies technical screening criteria for additionality, permanence, social safeguards and compliance with relevant environmental regulations.
