Sustainable aquaculture

The EU taxonomy entry OBJ3-WAT4 designates sustainable aquaculture as an economic activity that must be carried out in a way that protects water resources, preserves biodiversity and limits pollution while supporting climate-change mitigation and adaptation. To qualify, the operation must meet stringent criteria on feed sourcing, habitat impact, waste management and energy efficiency, ensuring it makes a substantial contribution to the EU's environmental objectives.
