Post-Accident Testing Requirements
The FMCSA post-accident testing requirements obligate motor carriers to administer drug and alcohol tests to any driver involved in an accident that causes injury, death, or a vehicle disabling, with the initial specimen collected within 24 hours of the event. Carriers must also conduct follow-up testing if the first result is positive, maintain records, and report results to the FMCSA in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
