Article 12 - Transparent information, communication and modalities for the exercise of rights

Article 12 sets out the requirement that data controllers provide information to data subjects in clear, concise and easily accessible language, using plain terms whenever possible. It obliges controllers to facilitate the exercise of rights by offering free, simple communication channels and to respond to requests without undue delay, typically within one month. The article also mandates that any necessary fees be limited to reasonable administrative costs.
