Article 44 - General principle for transfers

Article 44 sets the overarching rule that any transfer of personal data to a third country or international organisation must ensure an essentially equivalent level of protection to that guaranteed within the EU and may be achieved through adequacy decisions, appropriate safeguards or binding corporate rules.
