Article 8 - Conditions applicable to child's consent in relation to information society services
Article 8 sets the rules for when a child's consent may be used as the legal basis for processing personal data in online services. It requires parental or guardian consent for children under the age of sixteen, though Member States may lower that threshold to no less than thirteen, and it obliges providers to take appropriate steps to verify that consent is valid.
