**Definition:** A disease caused by an infection with the gram-positive bacteria Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae. This disease is characterised by localised cellulitis. Transmission is by direct cutaneous contact with Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, often in individuals handling seafood and raw meat.
