Relative polycythaemia

**Definition:** A disease caused by loss of body fluids leading to apparent increased levels of red blood cells in the blood. This disease may present with headache, vertigo, abnormally enlarged spleen or liver, high blood pressure, or formation of blood clots. Confirmation is by identification of relative blood cell counts in a blood sample.
