Anaphylaxis due to allergic reaction to food

**Definition:** Rapidly progressive, multi-system and potentially life-threatening reaction to exposure to a food allergen to which the affected individual has previously been sensitized.

**Exclusions:** - obstruction from food aspiration - food intolerance
