Allergic or hypersensitivity reactions to arthropods

**Definition:** This includes both local cutaneous and systemic allergic and hypersensitivity reactions to contact with insects (e.g. bees, wasps and fire ants) and other arthropods (e.g. scorpions and spiders). Reactions are usually mediated via the immune system (IgE-mediated or non-IgE-mediated allergy).
