Diabetes mellitus due to uncommon forms of immune-mediated diabetes

**Definition:** Other specified diabetes mellitus due to uncommon forms of immune-mediated diabetes is a form of diabetes, which is caused by two known conditions. The stiff-man syndrome is an autoimmune disorder of the central nervous system characterised by stiffness of the axial muscles with painful spasms. Patients usually have high titres of the GAD autoantibodies, and approximately one-third will develop diabetes.
