Dialysis-associated amyloidosis

**Definition:** Dialysis-related amyloidosis develops when proteins in blood are deposited in joints and tendons - causing pain, stiffness and fluid in the joints, as well as carpal tunnel syndrome. This type generally affects people on long-term dialysis.
