Chronic pulmonary thromboembolism

**Definition:** Chronic pulmonary thromboembolism is defined as a partial or complete occlusion of at least one major pulmonary arterial branch in the presence of a mean pulmonary artery pressure 25mmHg at rest, and normal left ventricular filling pressures, despite effective coagulation over at least three months.
