Giant cell myocarditis
**Definition:** Giant cell myocarditis is a form of dilated cardiomyopathy secondary to myocardial inflammation that is characterised by widespread infiltration of giant cells (abnormal masses produced by the fusion of macrophages) associated with other inflammatory cells and heart muscle cell destruction.
