Panlobular emphysema

**Definition:** Panlobular (panacinar) emphysema destroys the entire alveolus uniformly and is predominant in the lower half of the lungs. Panlobular emphysema generally is observed in patients with homozygous alpha1-antitrypsin deficiency.
