Pneumonitis due to inhalation of food or vomit

**Definition:** Acute inflammation of the lung parenchyma due to inadvertent passage of ingested solids or liquids into the airway from swallowing dysfunction or after an acute vomiting or gastroesophageal reflux episode.

**Exclusions:** - Mendelson syndrome
