Diseases of the visual system

**Definition:** This refers to any diseases of the visual system, which includes the eyes and adnexa, the visual pathways and brain areas, which initiate and control visual perception and visually guided behaviour.

**Exclusions:** - Posterior cortical atrophy - Certain conditions originating in the perinatal period - Certain infectious or parasitic diseases - Complications of pregnancy, childbirth and the puerperium - Endocrine, nutritional or metabolic diseases - Injury, poisoning or certain other consequences of external causes
