Teething syndrome
**Definition:** Gum and jaw discomfort when an infant’s teeth emerges. Teething typically starts between 4 and 7 months of age and lasts until about the age of 3 years. Most common symptoms include irritability, crying, lack of appetite, red and swollen gums, drooling, and inability to sleep.
