Ankylosis of teeth

**Definition:** Tooth ankylosis is the solid fixation of a tooth, resulting from fusion of the cementum and alveolar bone, with obliteration of the periodontal ligament. It is uncommon in deciduous dentition, and very rare in permanent teeth.
