Disorder of oesophageal peristalsis
**Definition:** Disorder of oesophageal peristalsis is part of a spectrum of motility disorders in the thoracic oesophagus characterised by dysphagia and chest pain due to incoordination of oesophageal peristaltic contractions. There is no abnormality in lower oesophageal sphincter relaxation.
**Exclusions:** - Achalasia - Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease
