Eosinophilic oesophagitis

**Definition:** Eosinophilic oesophagitis is an inflammatory condition in which the wall of the oesophagus becomes filled with a large number of eosinophils. It is diagnosed based on typical oesophageal symptoms and oesophageal mucosal biopsies demonstrating oesophageal epithelial infiltration with eosinophils.
