Gastric phlegmon

**Definition:** A spreading diffuse inflammatory process with formation of suppurative/purulent exudate or pus in the gastric wall. It often develops to a defined pocket of pus, gastric abscess. This is mainly due to the result of acute inflammation by bacterial infection.

**Inclusions:** - Gastric abscess - Phlegmonous gastritis
