Protein-losing enteropathy

**Definition:** Protein-losing enteropathy is a syndrome characterised by the severe loss of serum proteins into the intestine. It is not a single disease, but an atypical manifestation of other diseases, which involves intestinal mucosa as well as intestinal blood or lymphatic vessels.
