Secondary peritonitis

**Definition:** Peritonitis with evident source of an infecting agent or due to other diseases.

**Exclusions:** - Female pelvic peritonitis - Neonatal peritonitis - Genital tract or pelvic infection following abortion, ectopic or molar pregnancy - Puerperal sepsis
