Hypohidrosis due to genetic abnormalities of eccrine gland structure or function

**Definition:** Hypohidrosis due to a heritable disorder of sweat gland or duct development. Sweating may be severely diminished or absent due to a paucity or absence of eccrine glands or to defective autonomic innervation. An absence of sweating leads to an inability to thermoregulate by evaporative cooling, and hyperthermia can occur with physical exertion or in a warm environment.
