Keloid
**Definition:** A keloid is a progressively enlarging scar resulting from formation of excessive amounts of collagen in the dermis during connective tissue repair following inflammation, injury or surgery. It differs from a hypertrophic scar in that a keloid expands beyond the boundaries of the initial wound or site of inflammation.
