Acne or acneiform reactions attributable to drugs

**Definition:** This uncommon reaction to systemic medication is characterised by fever (generally on the same day as the start of the rash) and multiple, small, non-follicular pustules that arise on a widespread inflammatory erythema centred on the upper trunk and body folds. It may be difficult to differentiate from acute generalised pustular psoriasis. It usually appears within 24 hours of drug exposure. Antibiotics are probably the commonest precipitants although many drugs have been implicated.
