Pressure ulceration

**Definition:** Pressure ulcers result from localised injury and ischaemic necrosis of skin and underlying tissues due to prolonged pressure, or pressure in combination with shear; bony prominences of the body are the most frequently affected sites; immobility and debility are major contributing factors.

**Inclusions:** - bedsore - pressure injury - pressure ulcer

**Exclusions:** - decubitus (trophic) ulcer of cervix (uteri)
