Friction blister

**Definition:** A blister due to disruption of epidermal integrity as a result of repeated frictional stress. They usually form in areas with a strong, thick epidermis, i.e. the palms, fingers, soles and sides of the feet and toes. Common causes include repetitive heavy manual tasks or ill-fitting footwear.
