Photo-allergic contact dermatitis

**Definition:** Allergic contact dermatitis caused by sensitisation to a photoproduct of a compound either applied directly to the skin or taken up by the skin via the systemic circulation. The parent compound does not elicit an allergic reaction until it is chemically modified by exposure to ultraviolet radiation.
