Irritant contact dermatitis due to plants or other vegetable matter
**Definition:** Irritant contact dermatitis caused by exposure to plants and other vegetable matter. Irritation may be due to the mechanical (e.g. hairs, thorns, or spines) or chemical (e.g. acids, proteolytic enzymes) properties of the plant. Occupations where there is a substantial risk include agricultural workers, florists and gardeners.
