Intertriginous dermatitis due to friction, sweating or contact with body fluids

**Definition:** Intertriginous dermatitis (intertrigo) is a form of irritant contact dermatitis of the skin folds (axillary, submammary, genitocrural, abdominal apron) caused by repetitive shearing forces of skin on skin. Sweat, other body fluids, occlusion and obesity all contribute to its development.
