Primary gout
**Definition:** Primary gout refers to those cases that appear to be innate, that are neither secondary to another acquired disorder nor a subordinate manifestation of an inborn error that leads initially to a major disease unlike gout. Although some cases of primary gout have a genetic basis, others do not.
