Calcium pyrophosphate dehydrate deposition disease

**Definition:** Familial calcium pyrophosphate deposition is a chronic inherited arthropathy characterised by chondrocalcinosis (cartilage calcification), often associated with recurrent acute calcium pyrophosphate crystal arthritis and polyarticular osteoarthritis.
