Adhesive capsulitis of shoulder
**Definition:** This is a condition characterised by spontaneous onset of shoulder pain accompanied by progressive loss of active and passive ranges of motion.
**Long definition:** This is a disorder in which the shoulder capsule, the connective tissue surrounding the glenohumeral joint of the shoulder, becomes inflamed and stiff, greatly restricting motion and causing chronic pain. It is usually self-limiting but often has a prolonged course over two to three years.
