Adenomyosis

**Definition:** A condition of the uterus characterised by endometrial tissue growth in the myometrium, hypertrophy of the myometrium, and heavy or prolonged menstrual bleeding, dysmenorrhoea, dyspareunia, bleeding between menstruation, or infertility; it can also be asymptomatic. Confirmation is by histopathology or ultrasound.
