Postmenopausal atrophic vaginitis
**Definition:** A condition of the vagina, caused by decreased oestrogen levels during the menopausal period. This condition is characterised by inflammation of the vagina and outer urinary tract, thinning and drying of the vaginal tissues, decreased lubrication, vaginal burning or dryness, shortening and tightening of the vaginal canal, or urinary incontinence after menopause.
