Ovarian remnant syndrome
**Definition:** Chronic pelvic pain in a patient after bilateral salpingooophorectomy for severe endometriosis or PID, caused by residual ovarian cortical tissue left in situ after difficult dissection. Symptoms may include lateralizing pelvic pain, often cyclic and associated with genitourinary or gastrointestinal symptoms. Signs may include a tender mass in the lateral region of the pelvis.
