Atrophy of prostate

**Definition:** A condition of the prostate, caused by apoptosis of the cells due to diminished cellular proliferation, decreased cellular volume, decreased function, ischemia, malnutrition, disease, mutation, or hormonal changes. This condition is characterised by a partial or complete decrease in size and function of the prostatic tissue.
