Fanconi syndrome

**Definition:** Disorder associated with generalised dysfunction of the proximal tubule expressed as amino-aciduria, low molecular weight proteinuria, polyuria with sodium and potassium wasting, hyper-phosphaturia (hence bone disease), renal tubular acidosis, glycosuria and hypercalciuria.
