Urinary tract infection, site not specified, due to Proteus

**Definition:** A disease of the urinary tract, caused by an infection with the gram-negative bacteria Proteus. In females, this disease is characterised by dysuria, pyuria, or pollakiuria; in males, this disease may present with urethral discharge. Transmission is unknown. Confirmation is by identification of Proteus in a urinary sample.
