Asymmetrical intrauterine growth restriction
**Definition:** There is restriction of body weight followed by length with general head sparing. This condition occurs late in pregnancy and is caused by extrinsic factors. Fetal malnutrition leading to low ponderal index less than 2 (weight to length ratio) but weight not severe enough to qualify as small for gestational age.
