Extremely low birth weight of newborn

**Definition:** Newborn birth weight 999 g or less. Infants have increased morbidity including neurosensory disability, cerebral palsy, retinopathy of prematurity, deafness, pulmonary immaturity, chronic lung disease and subnormal cognitive function.
