Congenital enterovirus infection

**Definition:** Congenital viral infections with enteroviruses (including coxsackie viruses and ECHO viruses) are infectious embryofetopathies that have been reported to cause fetal malformations, acute systemic illness in the newborn and long-term neurodevelopmental abnormalities.
