Neonatal urinary tract infection
**Definition:** A condition of the urinary tract affecting neonates, commonly caused by an infection with a bacterial source. This condition is characterised by fever, pyuria, jaundice, poor appetite, diarrhoea, blood tinged stool, vomiting, or abdominal distention. This condition may also be asymptomatic. Transmission is by vertical transmission. Confirmation is by identification of the infectious agent in a urine sample.
